Concepts

I designed a decorative box that uses Thai patterns inspired by traditional OTOP crafts, mixing art and nature. The top of the box has a pattern that looks like flickering flames, bringing energy and liveliness to the design. The sides of the box have floral patterns that feel calm and peaceful, like flowers gently moving in the wind. Together, these designs create a nice balance between energy and stillness, showing the beauty of nature and Thai culture in a simple, modern way.

Final

This project was a valuable learning experience that helped me improve my woodworking skills and explore the blend of traditional Thai patterns with modern technology. I designed and built a decorative plywood box inspired by OTOP crafts, learning to use woodworking tools like saws, drills, and sanders. Initially challenging, I grew more confident as I practiced. Careful planning and precise measurements were crucial to ensuring the box fit together correctly.
The most exciting part was engraving Thai patterns using a laser cutter, merging cultural heritage with contemporary techniques. Adjusting the laser settings to achieve clean designs was both challenging and rewarding. This project deepened my appreciation for the balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern tools, reinforcing the importance of patience, detail, and thoughtful execution. Ultimately, it strengthened my connection to Thai culture and the joy of creating something meaningful.
